With most of the things that D&D draws upon - Western European history, Classical mythology, Japanese folklore, and so - the online resources are so good that it's easy to get used to having all the information you want at the touch of a button. It creates this illusion that all the world's knowledge is just sitting there on the English-language wikipedia, waiting to be read. But go just a short way off-track - Kyrgyzstan rather than China, Azerbaijan rather than Iran - and suddenly it becomes *much* harder to get any decent information.

Anyway. Glad you like it! I've got a bit more Siberian stuff I want to write about, and then I'll try to get back into Central Asia proper...Joseph Manolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05387275537008858939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-392427526916288536.post-23732192443131606572016-04-09T22:47:57.717-07:002016-04-09T22:47:57.717-07:00I certainly enjoy the central Asian stuff. The last decent vid-doc I saw was a sort of low-budget east-Asian silk route documentary that I think came from Japan. I wish films explored the area more, as I find it fascinating.

The part in Daywatch when Tamerlane is assaulting some sacred temple/keep thing in Samarkand is really cool. There are so many neat seemingly unknown cultures and legends from the region its a shame less is known. Sincerely, thanks for coming up with all this stuff.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-392427526916288536.post-62123093236478754142016-04-08T01:10:28.590-07:002016-04-08T01:10:28.590-07:00The Central Asian stuff specifically?
